Physical Therapy Research

The Department of Physical Therapy at Georgia State University has a growing research program focused on evaluating and advancing Physical Therapy intervention, practice, and education. The research of our faculty members involves both basic and clinical approaches in collaboration with local, regional and national research programs in various areas, including stroke, musculoskeletal injury, spinal cord injury, pediatric robotic therapy, advanced prosthetics, and physical therapy education.

In line with the vision of American Physical Therapy Association, the Department considers research to be an essential part of the Doctor of Physical Therapy learning experience and the key to ensure successful implementation of evidence-based practice. We have the expertise and infrastructure to support the administration of numerous student and faculty research projects.
